OK, my 1969 CJ just got a new 3-4in Skyjacker lift. Everything appears to be set properly with the suspension. Also, had the saginaw steering box rebuilt and added new steering stabilizer. The problem is when you turn the wheel to the left about 1 inch before it hits the bump stop the tie rod clips the top of the spring. It needs about 1/2inch more to clear. The left handed thread tie rod end connects to the center socket tie rod end and is bumping against the spring when turning to the left. What can I do to get them to clear? Ive thought of connecting the tie rod to the top of the spindle instead of the bottom where it is currently connected. The problem with this idea is that when you turn the tie rod over it will not bolt down properly because the hole is taper on the spindle. Do you know if this is the best option since this will require fabrication to hone the spindle and replace with new bushing which I don't know if one exists. Any help would be appreciated.
