Ugh. Ok, we all know that every town has ordinances as to what time working
hours are for a business. In this town, we have till 10pm and the whole business
has to be closed, lights off and everyone out by that time. Now most tattoo
shops hours are usually 2pm-10pm. We've set our hours from 12pm-9pm, so that it
will give the customer the idea that we have to be closed by 9, but it really
gives us that extra hour to sterilize materials, sweep and mop, yadda yadda.
People still come in at 8:45 and want to get tattooed because that's 15 minutes
we're still open. Normally, towns don't have a problem with places staying open
till 11, to do the cleaning or whatever. This town is so ****ing strict, since
we're on a street with houses. We actually tattoo one of the town cops, and he
told us that according to the town, a neighbor can call and complain that we're
still open after 10 and we can get a 2500.00 fine. Bull****!!!! Anyway, I'm
still here, people are still getting tattooed, and I wanna go home! |

Black out the windows or get some
curtains that will block all light
from the store after hours so no
one can see any light then you
have no worries of them calling
the cops. All lights and signs off
at 9pm and curtains pulled then
they have no idea if you are there
or not or what is going on.

Hey ... Jersey laws are there for
a reason. Some of us appreciate
them. It's all in how the
"enforcers" want to go about
enforcing the law. I live in a
residential neighborhood where
there is just 1 business and we
fight to keep new shops out. And
like Angel said, there's always
that 1 customer ... you know the
type.
As for the lift laws, you might be
reading the wrong stuff. I have a
link I can pass on if you're
interested. Sadly, inspectors vary
in their interpretation. Hey, they
don't hire rocket scientists!
Okay, I'm done. Carry on, kids. |

Jersey can be sooo messed up with
its laws!!! I must have read 4
different lift laws for NJ and
each one is different!!!
Anyway, towns need to realize that
the small business' keep the town
alive and financially afloat!!! As
long as no noise ordinances are
being broke, you should be able to
stay open a little longer!!! |
