You were acting so strange, that night at the bar
We were sitting by the door
A night to always remember
Like none we’d had before
You said “ Please don’t drink a lot tonight;
we have to have a chat”
I asked you what was wrong
And your reply was “Just leave it at that”
Confused, I sat and sipped my drink
Not knowing what to expect
We finished up in silence
And you went to pay the check.
I walked to the car scared to death
And sober as can be
The drive home just seemed so long
And uncomfortable to me.
You parked the car, took my hand
And led me to the park
Bad thoughts were flowing franticly
And my heart was growing dark.
We climbed up on the jungle gym
The place that “we” began
You looked so deep into my eyes
And again you took my hand.
You asked me what my intentions were
And if you were my one and only
You asked me if I loved you
And if I’d ever leave you lonely
I told you that you were the only one
And from you I’d never part
You were everything I’ve ever wanted
My life, my soul and heart.
It seemed as though we were breaking up
And I was just about to cry
You looked at me with hesitation
And we both looked to the sky
We saw a shooting star just then
As I said “I’ve loved you my whole life”
You pulled a ring out from your pocket
And asked me to be your wife
Shocked and happy, I said yes
and thanked my shooting star
This was not what I expected
From your actions at the bar.

Well written, good story.
Truly...
"A different ending"...I know of
a similar story. In this story
the one that had "something to
say" was 17 years older than the
other. (51/34). As the younger
would often say; They loved each
other truly, madly, deeply,
endlessly (TMDE).
The elder felt the younger might
be missing out on what remained of
youth by remaining in the
relationship & decided to step
away...
It was the birthday of the
younger.
No one got between them...no
sexual or emotional crimes...no
deceptions.
The story suggested they remained
dear, close friends.
That said, yours had a much better
ending! |
