guys i have an 88 jeep commanche that i cannot get started it runs great but i
just cant figure it out i changed the starter, solenoid, the voltage reg. the
timing is on right and other than that i have no idea what the hell else to do i
could use some expert advice on gettin my ol girl back on the road
Take this from an old Jeeper.... When you start to get older and your jeep is
breaking down more then it is on the road step back and think before you get
upset and do something stupid, and trade it for another car that is not a Jeep.
You will never get that feeling when you get into that Jeep and fire it up and
cruise down the road or off to your favorite trail. Or when you pull up to that
guy in a mini van and he stares over and just dream he was the one in the jeep,
Or when you pull into a parking lot and that little kid goes "Hey Mommy look at
that monster truck" Or when you are going down the road and wave to the another
Jeep, and your son goes "Dad who was that? and you just smile and say It is a
Jeep wave" No matter what you decided to get, it will never be the same. you
will spend years trying to get that feeling back, or do what I did spend the
next 9 years buying 7 different vehicles but none of them will ever fit you,
Heck you will even go get a motorcycle and think that is it and mentally it will
never be the same. Until you finally listen to your wife if your lucky and your
best friend that keeps telling you Just go get a Jeep and be done with it. And
you finally listen to them and you finally get back into a Jeep. And after you
take that first ride you sit back and say "Now everything is right in the world
again" There is no other feeling... So take my advice, Keep that Jeep and get it
fixed even if that means you have to buy a beater until you can get that Jeep
running right, It is better to have a broken Jeep in the driveway then no Jeep
at all....
hi i have a 1991 and it has the stock alarm system and for some reason it wont
start i checked the battery and fuel system, does the alarm have a security
system that wont let it start??? thanks
The Transmission is a T176 Casting number C2604203 manual 4 steed. Is there
anyone out there that would know where to find one? Engine is an AMC 304 V8
Well, I just completed something that will tide me over till I can afford a lift
and 33s. My brother just bought a 91 Jeep (private party). When he bought it,
they guy gave him an extra set of wheels and tires (31" Kumho MTs). He didn't
want them so, guess who got them? Yep! Put them on my wheels Sunday and now
Daddy's happy. The truck now looks mean and ready for business. The 31s are
10.5s and I was wanting some 12.5s so they stick out, but now that I have them
on, I think that I will stick with the 10.5s. Yes, I will still be putting the
BFGs on, but not until these were out.
I am happy! Thanks Bro!
I am trying to jeep to Roller Pass which is at the head of Coldstream Canyon.
My concern is whether I can get over horseshoe bend or alternatively, go through
the culvert? Thanks so much! I've tried the local Ranger District and the two
people I need to speak with are on leave with no estimate of return!
I had no idea what wheeling is when I ambled on to the Jeep dealers lot.
Nope, not a clue! Now I had driven several 4X4's... Bronco's and a Samy, or
should I say a Geo Tracker. Same thing, different labbel. In fact it was the
Track with 150K miles on it that had me looking for a repacement. I kew it
needed some shop time if it was going to last much longer, but I still needed
something to get back and forth from work.
I looked first at the want adds for a Toyota FJ40. I've always wanted one
of those! I like the look, and the utility... nothing, not one was anywhere to
be found for sale. So I test drove a the new version at the Toyota Dealer. It
was sound and comfortable, but, I don't know, a bit too plastic, and had poor
visibility. I came away from the test drive rather un-impressed.
Then I wandered around the Jeep lot. The 07's were out, and I liked the
top.. two peace, hard top... great! But it just doesn't look like a Jeep. I'm
sick to death of "Bubble Cars" [anything that looks like a Ford Tarus from the
side] and do not want my Jeep to start taking that same shape. Then I saw them,
two classic Jeeps on the edge of the lot. One was all gloss black, the other
was black over white. The last of the 06 models.
I bought the white one. An 06 TJ Rubicon, and had no clue what I was realy
getting myself into. I did not then know about the low gearing, the
differential lockers, and heavy duty axles, or any of that, and why I'd want
them. I do now!
I have driven more places, and seen more of Idaho, in the last year than I
ever did in over 20 years of living here. I have braved trails that my other
rigs could not have crossed, and I have forged ahead without any carnage, dents
or troubles. Maybe some difficulty, but nothing that couldn't be handled. My
Jeep has opened up a whole new Idaho, I didn't even know thet it existed.
Now I love to go out wheeling. Near or far... in groups or alone... I take
the dog, and give her a walk. I take the camera and record the views. I take a
friend, and we actually have time to talk... now that's wheeling!
