My 91 cherokee with 3" lift "pops" loudly while turning the wheel sharp at low
speeds. Anyone else had this? Is it something broken? Need fix or
alterations? Thanks for your input.
Well I have a thread in the Jeep Buying Forum Section....anyhow extremely
dissapointed!!!!! Jeep was in very rough shape and he wouldn't take my offer. I
left my offer open so I hope for her sake he calls!!!!
OK, my 1969 CJ just got a new 3-4in Skyjacker lift. Everything appears to be
set properly with the suspension. Also, had the saginaw steering box rebuilt
and added new steering stabilizer. The problem is when you turn the wheel to
the left about 1 inch before it hits the bump stop the tie rod clips the top of
the spring. It needs about 1/2inch more to clear. The left handed thread tie
rod end connects to the center socket tie rod end and is bumping against the
spring when turning to the left. What can I do to get them to clear? Ive
thought of connecting the tie rod to the top of the spindle instead of the
bottom where it is currently connected. The problem with this idea is that when
you turn the tie rod over it will not bolt down properly because the hole is
taper on the spindle. Do you know if this is the best option since this will
require fabrication to hone the spindle and replace with new bushing which I
don't know if one exists. Any help would be appreciated.
So if you haven't already replaced your Exhaust Manifold get ready I hear its a
reoccuring thing with Jeeps. The manual says to remove all sorts of unneeded
things. All you have to do is remove the air filter tube and the peice above the
throtle body.Flathead screwdriver, and thats done. Now to remove the Manifold
its self you need ratchet, extentions, (more the one makes this easy), 9/16 or
14mm sockets and wrench(s) (depends how rusty mine was more 9/16.) Even the
exhaust tube the manifold is bolted to is 9/16. After unbolting slide it out the
bottom of the jeep past the exhaust a little tricky but it is possible it took
me a few twist and turns just yank it it will come right out. Slide the new one
in put in the Gasket with rtv silicone to hold it in place **** I cut the parts
needed for the exhaust manifold away from the parts for the intake manifold,
this eliminates taking off the power steering pump, injectors, fuel rail, and
intake manifold.
I am in the process of debating on wether or not to buy this Jeep YJ I have been
looking at......I guess I will find out sunday, if the guy will take my
offer!!!!
DAMN I LOVE MY JEEP!! I actually managed to change my oil, almost solo. Minus
the trip to napa to get a new socket to match the oil pan bolt all went
smoothly. Then it started snowing!! So I fuelled up. The check engine light came on, I took it
offroading to see how it was going to do in highway snow!! Good times were had.
I think I didnt tighten the gas cap enough again. So we will see if that check
engine light goes off over the next couple of days again (it did the exact same
thing a few weeks ago) The great news is its running super smooth and actually
quieter with the new oil. Oil pressure and engine temp is still running at the
same as it was pre change... so not it. I love jeep gremlins!
My jeep started out racin through the snow covered roads in Wisconsin. With
snow there comes salt...and then rust...
So after a failed attempt at having a "professional" repair the one and only
rust spot on the entire jeep has finally been repaired...$1500 bucks lost in
Georgia was recaptured in $850 in California. The repair looks absolutely
perfect and now I've got a lifetime warranty on the work and if the rust ever
comes back, its getting repaired for free!! I'm just happy to have my baby
back...
...now its on to the next task...lift? gears? bumpers? lockers? .. . . . . .
